There have been several contenders for song of the summer this year, and I’d like to add elijah woods’ new single, “2 thousand 10” to that list – there’s so much to love about the song! With catchy melodies and nostalgic pop sensibilities that are a throwback to 2010s pop (can I call that a throwback yet?), it’s a bright and breezy listen.
The song is an ode to the happy childhood memories, recalling moments of freedom that came with being “young, dumb, and in love”. “The song’s energetic undertone gives it pace and relatability to anyone who has ever wanted to relive their best childhood memories,” shares elijah, “we had so much fun writing this song and I think that feeling is reflected in the final version.”
“Take me back to the end / Of summer two thousand ten / When I was just feeling high with my friends / Young, dumb and in love / Face up to the sun / At the top of our lungs screaming,” sings elijah on the chorus – an earworm for sure, and just the summery feel-good lyrics that make it one to put on repeat.
Toronto-based artist and producer elijah woods is an artist to keep your eye on. He recently wrapped up a sold-out tour in Asia, playing in cities such as Honk Kong, Tokyo, and Singapore.
