“The Closest We’ll Get” is Irish singer Nell Mescal’s latest release, and the title track from her newly announced EP. After teasing her fans with new material throughout the summer, Mescal confirmed that her new project will arrive this fall via her new label, Atlantic Records.
“The Closest We’ll Get is a collection of songs that tell a story about two people and how their relationship is in the grey area of friends or lovers,” says Mescal of the EP. “Each song is a realization of how sitting in the in-between affected me and in turn affected the ‘friendship.’”
With its folk-inspired instrumentation, tender vocals, and lyrical vulnerability, “The Closest We’ll Get” captures the emotional depth listeners have come to expect from Mescal. Her growth is evident throughout her recent releases – there’s a newfound confidence in her delivery, even when the lyrics dwell on insecurities and heartbreak.
The follow-up to last year’s Can I Miss It For A Minute, the new EP will feature recent single “Carried Away” and is set to release on October 24. If that isn’t enough good news, Mescal also announced a run of UK and Ireland headline dates. Find more details about her tour here.
