Following the July release of their fourth studio album, Precipice, Indigo De Souza kicked off their fall tour at Chicago’s Thalia Hall on Sunday, October 19. Giving fans nearly three months between the album release and tour, the crowd gathered prepared and energized.
While touring with Lord Huron this summer, De Souza gave Chicago fans an early taste of Precipice. Being in the city the weekend before the release, she partnered with local shop Shuga Records for a listening party and record signing. With two years and major personal upheaval between Precipice and De Souza’s previous record, All of This Will End, the album came highly anticipated and to high approval.
With a fresh sound, grit and urgency emerge on her new tracks. Being her most pop-forward album to date, that translated to a lively onstage presence. Although not the most theatrical, De Souza’s strong vocals shone through. With bright falsettos and a wide smile, she delivered a touching performance.
Taking us through the old and the new, De Souza jumped around her discography and her setlist. The handful of lighthearted moments where she remembered the setlist and needed to backtrack were met with laughs and cheers.
