Florence Road Kick Off their U.S. Tour with a Sold Out San Francisco Show

Irish indie rock band Florence Road have officially hit the road on their first United States headline tour earlier this week with their first stop in San Francisco. The band is touring following the release of their second EP Hanging Out To Dry in June of this year. This was their first show in San Francisco, and the fans welcomed them with open arms, loud voices, and even a few tears.


I arrived at Brick & Mortar Music Hall about 20 minutes before the doors were set to open and the queue was already descending down the street. Fans excitedly discussed which songs they hoped to hear and why the band meant so much to them. As we all shuffled into the packed venue, the squeals of excitement and anticipation only grew louder and more frequent.


Before the show began, members of the supporting band People I’ve Met roamed the venue handing out free CDs, which added such a personal touch to their performance. They delivered a moody yet energetic set that proved to be a fantastic start to the evening.


Florence Road then took the stage, beginning with their latest single “7563.“ The night was a rollercoaster of emotions, jumping from heart-retching ballads such as “Rabbits Can Swim“ to fun, upbeat tracks like “Break the Girl.“ I was captivated throughout the show by not only the talent these girls possess, but also the evident passion for the music they create and the love for their dedicated fans. It’s often hard to feel like you’re witnessing an intimate performance while standing in a packed room, but Florence Road found a way to make the evening feel special and personal.
