If Ajo sounds like a new artist, she might be for you. However, Ajo has been releasing music since 2017. A few big names with whom she can be linked include Alicia Keys and Doja Cat. If you enjoy artists like Tierra Whack or RAY BLK, there’s a high-key chance you’ll enjoy Ajo’s music.

Her latest single, “Act Up,” was released on December 17, 2025. The song is 2000s R&B meets ballroom. The song is a high-energy and beautiful ode from start to finish. Ajo gave the following quote about her song: “‘Act Up‘ is a love letter to the clubs & DJs I grew up dreaming about. When it’s 2a.m., and the glass fogs, the dance floor has its own code. That’s why I sing, ‘Respect the drop, do not crowd up the booth. That’s my DJ, these the rules!’ The booth is sacred.” Playlists that the song could be suited for include those about nightlife or admiration.

You gon' make me act up You know that that's attractive”

One thing about nightlife and the DJs that contribute to it is that people tend to have high energy and want to have a good time. Ajo is letting the DJ, or rather DJs, in the club know that they’re going to have her dancing on the dancefloor and doing her thing to the beat of the music that’s blasting through the speakers.

“Bless this space space space I might as well get the hell up, it's on”

Club scenes have a mixture of people. There are those who sit around grooving to the music and those who get up and hit the dance floor. While the music’s going, she’s wanting to bless the room with her presence and sitting down isn’t the way to do that. The best way is to get up and make a scene, in a good way, that is.

“Ride the wave, just let it play, it doesn't matter Take me to the venue, listen even in the rafters”

She’s on the dance floor and enjoying the music that’s blasting through the speakers. She’s not worried about what song is playing at the moment, as Ajo knows she’s going to have a good time no matter what. She’s willing to listen throughout the venue, whether it’s in the VIP section, on the dance floor, etc.

“That my DJ Go DJ Tell them other ones pack it up That my DJ”

The admiration and appreciation Ajo has for DJs are on full display through these lyrics. Off the bat, they reminded me of Lil’ Wayne’s song “Go DJ” and only for good reasons. DJs aren’t talked about enough in songs; I personally haven’t heard many songs dedicated to DJs or the art they share with us. They should be shown more love and appreciation.

Overall, the vibe, the vocals, and the lyrics mesh well together. The song is worth checking out, and Ajo is an artist to be on the lookout for in the future. I can’t wait to see what comes from her next.
